About the Experience
Have you ever sensed the mood of a room before anyone spoke, felt immediately at ease around one person, or unusually drained after time with another?
We often call this intuition. It may also be a form of perceptual awareness—the ability to notice subtle information through the body, attention, and energetic sensitivity.
For healing arts professionals, massage therapists, counselors, nurses, caregivers, empaths, and highly sensitive people, this awareness can be especially strong. When you spend your day listening, supporting, comforting, or caring for others, it may become difficult to recognize where their experience ends and yours begins.
Certain interactions can leave you feeling heavy, depleted, unsettled, or emotionally affected. Sometimes, you may carry those feelings home without realizing that some of what you are holding may not be yours.
This is where energetic awareness, discernment, and energetic hygiene become important.
Introduction to Energetics is a grounded, experiential class led by Dr. Mike Hall, DCEM. It is designed to help you better understand what you are sensing, recognize how people and environments may affect your internal state, and begin developing practical skills for maintaining your own energy.
This is not about being told what to believe.
It is about learning to notice, feel, and discern for yourself.
From Intuition to Perceptual Awareness
Most people have experienced subtle energy, even if they have never called it that.
You may sense tension in a room, feel grounded after one interaction and unsettled after another, or notice that certain environments feel calm while others feel overwhelming.
In this class, you will begin exploring these experiences as a form of perceptual awareness that can be observed, practiced, and developed.
We begin with one of the oldest principles in Qigong:
“Where attention goes, qi follows.”
Through guided awareness, breath, posture, hand-sensing practices, and partner exercises, you will explore how focused attention influences what you notice and how you experience energy within and around you.
The Three Bodies
The class introduces three interconnected layers of experience:
- The physical body
- Breath, posture, temperature, tension, pressure, and direct physical sensation.
- The energetic body
- Movement, flow, fullness, openness, gathering, and shifts in internal sensation.
- The spirit body
- Presence, stillness, clarity, awareness, and the quieter qualities of perception.
Learning to distinguish between these layers can help you understand your experience more clearly rather than simply feeling affected by it.
What You Will Experience
This class is practical and experiential rather than purely theoretical.
Guided exercises may include:
- Breath and posture practices
- Focused attention and body awareness
- Sensing energy between the hands
- Observing changes in warmth, pressure, movement, or sensation
- Partner practices for noticing energetic influence
- Grounding and clearing techniques
- Reflection and discussion
Everyone experiences energy differently. There is no pressure to feel a particular sensation or achieve a specific result.
The purpose is to become more attentive to your own experience and begin building a reliable foundation for further practice.
